It's fair to say that the summer of 2025 did not go how I had planned, at all. My partner and I had moved to a new city with a temporary housing situation and were looking to get a lease of our own. Should be easy since we had the money to pay rent, right? Wrong. It took months to get offered a lease, and during that time we were staying in an upstairs bedroom without AC in the Oregon summer. Though it turned out in the end, it was undeniably the hardest summer of my life, and between the material stress of housing insecurity and the physical stress of overheating, there was very little room for peakbagging. Quite sad since I had high hopes for the summer. I was only able to do a triplet of relatively short hikes by the time the equinox rolled around. I had planned to make up for lost time in the fall, but the weight of what happened to me over the summer left me with depression and panic attacks - also not the best conditions for peakbagging. When I had first gotten sick the year before, I wasn't able to hike nearly as much as I had wanted, and I chalked the year up to a loss. This year, I did a fraction of what I had done the year before. I think one can gather from this website how important this is to my life, and I'm never not going to be angry for the time I lost. But hey, at least some parasites were able to boost their profit margins. Make no mistake, they hurt other people far more than they hurt me, but I was worried for a while I would become one of those people. Terrible stuff, and when you try to make the system better people start lining up to join right-wing paramilitary groups in order to keep it terrible
Spencer is a fairly well-documented peak, so I'll just say that it is best done during cooler months, as it was hot as shit
Pisgah is also well-documented and like with Spencer, I'd recommend doing it in cooler months
Carpenter I did via the hiking route to the fire tower that was fairly well-maintained. I tried to take a shortcut by cutting up to the trail at the end of the road - would not recommend, way too steep and slippery for not much gain. No views at the summit but it was otherwise nice
